| Throughout the Junior school (Year 1 to 6), pupils are taught by dedicated class teachers who are qualified and experienced with the requirements of the British national curriculum. Class teachers are assisted by full time bi-lingual teacher aides.
Key stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) Years 1 and 2 uses the Literacy and Numeracy strategies and follows the QCA guidance in all other subjects. These programmes reflect the best UK practices and are further enhanced and enriched by our experienced British teachers and also by the international dimension of the Continental school.
In Years 1 and 2 we continue with: • Our wide-ranging reading scheme, colour-coded for systematic reading development • Development of practical writing skills using cursive script to achieve clear expression and good presentation of written work • Development and understanding of spelling skills and word patterns. • Simple mathematics based on practical activities using a variety of mathematical equipment, games, toys and IT software • Gaining knowledge and understanding of the natural and man-made world as a foundation for learning history, geography, science and technology
