Stage – Lower School |

 |
| Introduction
Nursery and Reception classes use the Foundation Stage
curriculum and the Foundation Stage profile outlined
in the British education system.
Nursery
The Foundation Stage curriculum in the nursery (ages
3-4) is divided into 6 separate areas of learning:
• Knowledge and understanding of the world
• Creative development (music, construction, role
play)
• Language and the concept of literacy
• Numbers and the concept of mathematics
• Personal, social and emotional development
• Physical development |
 |
 |
Entry into the school
for the first time is an important event in a child’s
life and one which we aim to make as happy and satisfying
as possible.
Pupils join the nursery class from the age of 3. The
prime objective in the pre-school is the development
of social and communication skills. Pupils in the pre-school
enjoy a variety of activities which stimulate their
senses, develop self-awareness, interaction with others
and encourage mobility. Teachers stimulate the pupils
through stories, music, singing, art & craft, games
and a variety of imaginative play including sand, water,
and play-dough.
|
| Working in the nursery
class, children gradually show self-confidence. They
are allowed to experience activities and explore materials
which develop fine manual, perceptual, oral and literacy
skills necessary for progression into the Reception
class.

and curriculum-based activities builds on the nursery

group and individual activities
